God’s love is like no other. It is counter cultural. It is life transforming. It is life giving.
The lyrics to this 1985 Amy Grant hit say it far better than I ever could. But don’t just read the words.
You really have to Watch and Listen to this great old 1980’s Amy Grant performance on the David Letterman Show.
The hair and clothes are a hoot ~ and the song is amazing!
Love of Another Kind
Songwriters: Gary Chapman, Amy Grant, Wayne Kirkpatrick, Richard Mullins
They say love is cruel, they say love is rather fragile
But I’ve found in You a love of another kind
They say love brings hurt but I say love brings healing
Understanding first it’s a love of another kind
The love I know is a love so few discover
They need to know Jesus’ love is like no other
They say love won’t last but I say love is never ending
‘Cause in You I have a love of another kind
They would change their tune they would add another measure
If they only knew this love of another kind
The love I know is a love so few discover
They need to know Jesus’ love is like no other
They say love is cruel, they say love is rather fragile
But I’ve found in You a love of another kind
They say love brings hurt but I say love brings healing
Understanding first it’s a love of another kind
They say love won’t last but I say love is never ending
‘Cause in You I have a love of another kind
They would change their tune they would add another measure
If they only knew this love of another kind
Love of another kind
The love of another kind
The love of another kind
The love of another, the love of another kind
Give me love this is love
(This is love)
Another kind, another kind of love
You are right, Mary, that Amy Grant outfit was a blast from the past. I never dressed like that, did I? Yeah, probably.
I also want to say your Valentine’s Day post brought back memories of so many tears shed in greeting card aisles on so many occasions. So many loving, admiring words on those cards, and I just didn’t feel them. It seemed so wrong to let Hallmark lie for me. One time though, God prompted me to buy a card that expressed my deepest prayer for the recipient. I did, and when the person read the card, I saw her face soften and her heart bloom right before my eyes. I have followed that prompting ever since, always with the same results. This leading from the Lord has helped me accept and love difficult people as they are, give my wishes for the person to the Lord where they belong, and even articulate my prayers for the person. And God helped me bless these people with words that express how He sees them.
